Jodie Fedorko – Soft Landscape Designer
Hi, my name is Jodie Fedorko and I am the Soft Landscape Designer for Leicestershire Garden Design Company. My main job role is meeting clients for planting consultations, providing advice and ideas, producing 2D and 3D planting plans and providing and planting up the newly designed gardens
For as long as I can remember I have always loved to design and create, carrying this right through to achieving an A level in Fine art, not really knowing which direction this would take me, I did it because I loved it.
Upon leaving school, I found a horticulture course, attracting me to it by its design element. I have always enjoyed gardening even as a small child but didn’t consider it as a profession until stumbling across the course. During the duration of my Diploma in Horticulture, I fell in love with it and knew I’d found my life-long career.I progressed further and started my own small-scale garden maintenance business which I continued for a couple of years, to gain industry experience, until I was approached by a community gardening charity to become their Project Support Officer to which I grew into an Assistant Manager role.
Early on in this position, I was then contacted by the Motor Neurone Association’s co-founder to design an Artisan Garden at Chelsea Flower Show in 2015 for the charity, to which I won a Silver Medal on my debut show garden and acclaimed the title of Chelsea’s youngest designer ever at the age of 21, fulfilling a dream that I’d anticipated at the end of my career not at the beginning!
Always aiming to be at my best in the profession I loved, I decided to focus my career into design and planting, I took further studies and gained an RHS certificate in Garden Planning, Planting and Construction.
All things plants are where my passion truly lies, and my main ambition in not only my working life but personal life too, is to be the best plants woman I can be, offering out the power of plants to everyone.
