Sue Williams – Finance and Office Manager

SueHi, I’m Sue Williams, Finance and Office Manager at Leicestershire Garden Design Company.

My career started at the age of 16 when I joined NatWest Bank. During my time with the bank, which spanned 20 years, I held a number of different positions. My responsibilities ranged from delivering one-to-one training through to implementing six-week induction programmes for new staff. My most enjoyable roles were the ones when I worked on the implementation teams for new systems. These projects took me to all over the country and to Gibraltar.

After having my daughter, I left the bank to work for a local environmental charity, Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire (GWLL), for five years. I joined the Charity as a Business Planning Coordinator, and when that role was made redundant, I decided to re-train in finance. Through GWLL’s study support scheme, I completed an OCR in Book Keeping and my AAT Level 2.

I joined Leicestershire Garden Design as an Administrator. Since joining the company, my role has evolved within the business to cover the responsibilities of Finance Administrator/Office Manager/HR Officer/Payroll Officer and the list goes on.

LGD has supported the development of my role and given me the opportunity to study for my AAT Level 3. This qualification has been highly beneficial to the business and fulfilling to me on a personal level.

After joining the company, it didn’t take me long to realise that working for LGD was going to be very different from my previous occupations. It’s refreshing to work in an environment where everybody genuinely enjoys their job. Never before have I worked for such a forward-thinking business.

LGD has such a strong sense of ‘team’. Quality and attention to detail is our trademark, which is why we’ve achieved such success and grown as a business.
